The
American Association for Wartime Veterans (AAWV) work exclusively
with senior living communities committed to fair housing practices
for wartime veterans and their surviving spouses.

What it takes to become a "Veterans First"
Community:
- Distribute
American Association for Wartime Veterans brochures to all
prospective/current residents of their community.

Provide a facility statement on a timely basis.
- Encourage
residents to participate in AAWV newsletter submissions,
i.e., wartime photos, stories, jokes and etc.
- A
“Veterans First" community will host a minimum
or two educational seminars per year for all resident caregivers
and their families. The first seminar, geared towards the
wartime veteran, surviving spouse and immediate family,
will be hosted within sixty days of becoming a “Veterans
First” community.
The
American Association for Wartime Veterans Will:
- Educate
veterans / surviving spouses and their families on the subject
of aid and attendance.

Hold regular educational seminars in the AAWV office and
other community locations on a monthly basis for the wartime
veterans/surviving spouses and their families.
- Hold
regular training classes to educate the “Veterans
First” community staff.
- Remain
current with changes on the improved pension plan.
- Help
promote the “Veterans First” communities.
